5k Run for Families 2010

PostDateIcon Monday, 01 March 2010 22:56 | PostAuthorIcon Author: Administrator | PDF Print E-mail

Moved to spring to better fit the schedules of the running elite the 5k Run for Families is once again upon us!! Last year this event was a ball. Full of fun people joined in the common goal of bettering humanity through helping to end the tragedy of substandard housing in Rowan, Kentucky, and in seeing that those with the least might still have access to perhaps the most essential tool for bettering ones life, education. Through Blessing Hands children in China that without the help of caring brothers and sisters half a world away would not have the chance for an education beyond 5th grade can realize higher education and the abilities it affords one.

So join us again this year for a good time with great people that share your love of humanity and the desire to run faster than those around them.  APRIL 24th.

MSU Habitat Student Chapter Begins Anew

On the evening of Sept 9th and 10th a once dormant force for good re-awakened to build upon a legacy of good deeds. That re-awakened and invigorated force is none other the Morehead State University Student Chapter for Habitat for Humanity. In the past the club has contributed many volunteer hours in the construction of Habitat homes, as well as in fund-raising projects. Such as by building a utility shed on campus and raffling it off—all proceeds went towards building habitat homes. Campus Habitat Chapters do not only benefit the mission of Habitat for Humanity of course, students gain skills and knowledge useful for a lifetime and more importantly an appreciation for the value of service and volunteerism and the very real effect that kindness and compassion has upon a community. This lesson does not come easily and can only come through  experience, an experience which will guide future decisions for a lifetime. Morehead Habitat applauds the rebirth of the MSU Club and looks forward to working with them for years to come.
